What's New in Analytics Segmentation
New Features in Adobe Analytics Segmentation.
Custom calendar support in segments
We added support for custom calendars in the segment builder when using time dimensions as rules.
Note: A segment created for a report suite with a custom calendar continues to be incompatible with any report suite that does not have the same custom calendar.
Date ranges in segments
Lets you build segments that contain rolling date ranges in order to answer questions about ongoing campaigns or events. For example, now you can easily build a segment that includes “everyone who has made a purchase over the past 60 days.”
Note: This feature is not available in Ad Hoc Analysis.
Before/After sequence segments
When building sequential segments, you now have the option to filter for traffic "before sequence" or "after sequence".
Note: This feature is not available in Ad Hoc Analysis.
Dimension constraints with Sequential Segments
In a “within" clause, in between THEN statements, you can add, for example, “within 1 search keyword instance”, “within 1 eVar 47 instance”. This constrains the segment to within one instance of a dimension.
Analysis Workspace: Use segments in Fallout analysis
You can create segments from a touchpoint, add segments as touchpoints, and compare key workflows across various segments in Analysis Workspace.
Dimension name change in Segment Builder
The Full Domain dimension in the Segment Builder has been renamed to Domains to match the permission name.
Analysis Workspace > Segment Comparison
The Segment Comparison (Segment IQ) Panel in Analysis Workspace allows customers to quickly compare any two Analytics segments to find the most significant differences between them across all data points.
Create Segment Permission
If users do not have the Create Segment permission , they can no longer access the Segment Builder.
Data Warehouse: Breakdown by segment
Added support for Breakdown by Segment . In addition to breakdowns by Standard (Items) and Custom (Insights), you can now break down reports by segments. When you select the Segments tab, the list will be populated with the same set of segments offered in the Available segments drop-down list.
Line items with membership in the segment will report a value of “1”, and items outside of the segment report “0”.
Data Warehouse: Segment stacking
Added support for multiple segments (segment stacking) to Data Warehouse.
When selecting multiple segments, the preview area now shows a comma-separated list of names (e.g. Segment 1, Segment 2). We also updated the Request Manager page and the Request Detail popup window to display the comma-separated list.
Ad Hoc Analysis: Creating segments from fallout reports
A change was made to how Ad Hoc Analysis creates segments from a Fallout Report.
Previously, the segment you created from the Fallout Report ignored any segments applied at the report or workspace level and only included sequential rules for the checkpoints in the report.
To get the segment generated on the Fallout Report to produce the same numbers as the Fallout Report, we now embed the segment(s) from the report and workspace level into each checkpoint from the fallout report.
Permissions changes in Segment Builder
The Admin user can limit which users can create new segments. By default, all users can create segments. More...
Segment Export Format Options
Added industry-standard format options for segments for direct integration with other capabilities, without additional file manipulation. This provides a more seamless workflow and quicker analysis.
Consistently named segmentation operators
Reports & Analytics and Ad Hoc Analysis now use consistent operators and operator names when creating segments.
The exists , and does not exist operators were added to Reports & Analytics when segmenting based on enumerated strings.
The does not contain all of and does not contain any of operators were added to Ad Hoc Analysis when segmenting based on string values.
In Reports & Analytics:
In Ad Hoc Analysis:
Support for "matches" and "does not match" in Data Warehouse segments
Data Warehouse now supports “matches” and “does not match” in segment definitions. (Reports & Analytics and Ad Hoc Analysis already support this.)
Segments that were previously incompatible with Data Warehouse because Data Warehouse did not support “matches” and “does not match” will become compatible after the release (assuming that’s the only reason the segment was incompatible.) Additional segments may appear in the Data Warehouse segment list after the release.
Segments.Save in Web Services API
Segments.Save was added to the 1.4 Web Services API to save segments that are compatible with the recently updated segment builder interface.
Ability to apply segments to Anomaly Detection reports
Added the new segment selector rail to Anomaly Detection. This means that segments can now be applied to Anomaly Detection reports.
Reports & Analytics: Ability to create segments from fallout reports
Added a Create Segment From Path link in the Fallout reports that goes to the Segment Builder. Clicking the link results in an auto-created sequenced segment definition that uses the checkpoints from the Fallout report.
Initial release of the new Segment Builder/Segment Manager
Segments are now created, managed, and used across Analytics user interfaces and across report suites.
A new Segment Builder interface lets you build simple, nested, and sequential segments. You can now apply multiple segments to a single report to prevent duplicating logic in multiple segments.
A new Segment Manager lets you easily manage, approve, share, and tag segments. Segments can be published to the Experience Cloud for Analytics-powered targeting.
Segment building and managing in Ad Hoc Analysis
Ad Hoc Analysis is now part of the Analytics Unified Segmentation environment that consolidates features to build, manage, and share segments using Adobe Analytics.
The Segment Builder console within Ad Hoc Analysis has been updated with new features, including updated icons, changes to console functionality, and the ability to save containers at all levels. The Segment Manager (Organize Segments) has been updated with new features to organize and tag segments within Ad Hoc Analysis.
