Create a multi-lingual email or SMS delivery

Adobe Campaign allows you to simplify the operational complexities of sending multilingual campaigns. Both email deliveries, and SMS deliveries can be set up as multilingual, which allows you to send the email or SMS based on a profile’s preferred language.

This video explains how to create a multi-lingual delivery based on a template on the example of an email newsletter. The approach demonstrated in the videos applies to both email, and SMS deliveries.

Welcome to how to create multilingual emails from existing templates.
Multi-lingual emails allow you to create multiple content variance within one delivery and simplify reporting on multilingual delivery with the ability to drill down into language or variant levels. You can create multilingual e-mails when you manually create a delivery as well as in workflow, or transactional based. Now let’s begin. I will show you how to manually create a multilingual delivery. Click Create an email.
Then click the Multilingual out of the box template. We are going to name it.
I am going to Select an audience I have.
This section is where multilingual emails differ from standard ones. We’re going to delete default and United States English. A default variant is there by default. But for us, our default will be our language. Our selected audience is in Switzerland. In Switzerland there are three main languages: German, Italian and French. We’re going to begin to add them by clicking here.
Notice how there is there is the Language and then there is the Region. We’re going to need to pick the German for Switzerland, and next Italian for Switzerland and finally, French for Switzerland.
I need to choose a default.
We’re going to set the default variant as French. If a profile doesn’t have a preferred language set, or one that is not one of the content variables, they will receive the default variant. The system will automatically choose the preferred language field, shown here. Preferred language is available by default in the profiles.
Notice how there are three varying counts and there are three different email variants.
And each variant’s layout can be different. Let’s create the first German variant email.
I have already created three different language templates for this multilingual campaign. I am going to add them.
Don’t forget to add a subject.
Remember to save.
Now onto the Italian email.
Don’t forget to add a subject again. Let’s save this one.
And finally the French email.
Make sure your subject is added.
Don’t forget to save.
The main language in Switzerland is actually German. So we’re going to want to change that default by clicking here and changing the language variant to German. You can also add more language variants right here too. Notice again the variant selection is the preferred language variant.
Click Prepare. Click OK.
Click Send when you’re ready to send.
Now your email has begun sending.
Some time has passed and now all of our emails have been sent and delivered. We’re going to take a look at the dynamic reports. We’re going to click Reports and then select Dynamic reports. Now we’re going to choose Delivery summary template We can see all the dynamic reporting statistics and we’re going to add the variant levels.
From multilingual emails, we’ll search variant and just drag and drop it right here.
Everyone in the default German category received an email. And everyone with the preferred language field, received their special email in their language.
