  • New settings added to out-of-the-box HTML5 eCatalog Viewers - In Setup > Application Setup > Viewer Presets > Universal_HTML5_eCatalog or Universal_HTML5_eCatalog_Adv, the following additions were made to each viewer’s respective Configure Viewer page:

  • Favorites Thumbnail Size - Lets you specify the size ( 0-1.0 ) of the thumbnail used for Favorites.

The setting is expressed as a relative value to the total frame size. For example, a value of 1.0 means that the entire frame image is used for the thumbnail. A value of 0.1 (default) means that ten percent of the frame size is used for the thumbnail.

  • New settings added to out-of-the-box HTML5 Mixed Media Set Viewers - In Setup > Application Setup > Viewer Presets > Universal_HTML5_MixedMedia_dark or Universal_HTML5_MixedMedia_light, the following additions were made to each viewer’s respective Configure Viewer page:
New setting
Description
Zoom mode drop-down list

Lets you configure the type of the zoom animation to use. On the left rail, click Viewer Features to access the following Zoom mode options from the drop-down list:

  • continuous (default) - requires a user to click or tap on the image to zoom.
  • inline - runs zoom on mouse hover.
  • auto - automatically applies continuous on desktops and inline on touch devices.
Flyout/Inline Zoom tab

On the left rail, click Flyout/Inline Zoom to access the following available options:

  • Primary Zoom Factor (default: 3 ) and Secondary Zoom Factor (optional; default: -1 ) - Specifies the image magnification for the flyout/inline view, relative to the reset view. Specify an integer or a floating point value of 1.0 or larger.

You can specify an optional secondary zoom factor. The secondary zoom is accessible by selecting the main view when the highlight is active. Selecting a second time reverts to the primary zoom factor. A value of -1 disables the secondary zoom factor.

  • Preload Zoom Image (default: Off ) - Set to On (1) to enable preloading of the zoomed image; set to Off (0) to load the zoom image incrementally, as needed.

If you enable this option, it results in substantially higher bandwidth usage because the zoomed image is loaded in its entirety, even if no zoom action is taken by the user.

  • Tip text for desktop - Lets you specify the text for an optional tip that appears on the viewer for desktop systems.

  • Tip text for mobile devices - Lets you specify the text for an optional tip that appears on the viewer for mobile touch devices.

  • Tip Duration (default: 3 ), Tip Count (default: 1 ), and Tip Fade (default: 0.3 ) - These three options let you specify the display behavior for optional tip text.

Use Tip Duration to specify the number of seconds the text displays before it hides. If you set the duration to -1 , the tip text displays continuously, even if the user activates zoom.

Use Tip Count to specify the number of times the text displays when viewing new images in the set. If you set tip count to -1 , the text displays continuously when viewing any image in the set.

Tip Fade lets you specify the duration of a fade animation that occurs when the text appears or disappears. If you set tip fade to 0 , no fade transition is used.

New features, enhancements, and bug fixes for Dynamic Media Image Serving Viewers 5.2.2

Viewer upgrades are backwards compatible—no changes are necessary to your existing web code. However, it is recommended that you test the new viewers on Adobe’s staging environment. The following website gives instructions on how you can set up your system to access Adobe’s staging server:

https://helpx.adobe.com/experience-manager/scene7/kb/base/upgrade-management/testing-scene7-viewers-upgrade.html

After you have set up your computer to access the staging server, you can check your website to test the upgrade. If you are using out-of-the-box HTML5 viewers, the best practice is for you to test against Adobe’s standard staging server and s7is5-preview-staging.scene7.com.
