AEM Sites UI and navigation basic-handling-aem-sites
The following video provides an overview of basic handling when using the AEM author environment. It uses the Sites console as a basis.

Hi there. In this video, let me introduce Adobe Experience Manager sites. Adobe Experience Manager enables users to deliver an immersing and engaging experience for every user. With the help of Adobe Experience Manager, you can quickly create content, efficiently manage the content and get your content delivered to your audience. Let’s get started. To log in to you AEM instance, you need a username and a password for you account. If you don’t have one already, reach out to your administrator for an account and they should be able to provide you with a username, a password and a link to you Altering instance of AEM. The Alter instance provides a platform to design, create and review the content before publishing it to your organization’s marketing channels. Let’s log in to AEM instance and you will be taken directly to AEMs homepage screen. You might be familiar with the homepage screen. If not, don’t worry we’re going to cover this now. AEM provided a touch enabled user interface letting users interact with the software using gestures like tap, touch and hold and swipe. A touch enabled user interface allows users to use their mobile or tablet devices to interact with AEM and deliver your marketing needs on the go. AEM homepage consists of a navigation panel and a tools panel. Navigation panel provides you quick access to all AEM consults, all solutions. In this video, we’re going to explore the AEM sites console. When accessing the console for the first time, after you log in, the correct navigation tutorial gets displayed. Take a minute to click or tap through, to get a good overview of the basic handling of AEM. Once you’re inside an AEM solution console, you can navigate to another console using the global navigation. When you click or tap the Adobe Experience Manager link at the top left of the screen, you get a full screen drop down. Let’s close the navigation panel for now and continue exploring sites. On the top right corner of your screen, you can notice the toolbar within the AEM sites console. The search icons provides an option to search for content that resides within the AEM Alter instance.
Solution switcher icon offers an easy way to navigate to other Adobe Experience Cloud solutions from your AEM sites console. Using the help icon, you can get access to documentations, forums, keyboard shortcuts, et cetera. The notification icon indicates the currently assigned incomplete tasks for a user. For a new user, you do not have any tasks assigned to you, you hence have zero notifications. When you work with your colleagues, you will get notified here when a task needs your attention. You can click on the user icon and edit some of your personal preferences for altering content, that includes setting your favorite color for annotations. Right beneath the global navigation, you can notice the rail selector, by default for AEM sites, the rail selector is in the content only option. You can switch to other rail selections based on your requirements. The view icon is at the far right of the AEM toolbar. You can switch between a list view, a column view or a card view.
